Children over 2.5 yrs of age are placed into small group classes without a parent/carer in the water.  Class sizes are limited to 4 per class to ensure every child receives special attention.  Each child is placed into a suitable class with children of a similar ability level.

All lessons are 30 mins duration and consist of a variety of activies aimed at teaching swimming and water safety skills which they will keep for life.  We have a strong focus on water safety and include survivial skills into every lesson no matter what level.

We believe that children benefit from learning without the use of flotation aids.

All our instructors are qualified with Austswim (Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety) and Royal Life Saving (Swim and Survive Examiner and CPR) and have many years of experience teaching young children how to swim and survive.

Each child is assessed based on the Royal Life Saving's Swim an Survive program and receives a certficate at the end of each term.  Lesson levels are divided into 4 main categories:

Starfish - Beginner level for all non-swimmers or those who have never had lessons before.

Goldfish - Children able to swim between 4-10m unaided and are learning to breathe unassisted.

Dolphin - Children are able to swim between 10-20m using big arms, starting breathing on the side and learning backstroke.

Sharks - Children are able to swim at least 20m of freestyle and backstroke and are learning breastroke and butterfly.
